Nigeria, located in West Africa contains thirty six different states and its Federal Capital Territory. Nigeria borders Niger in the North, Chad and Cameroon in the East, and the Republic of Benin in the west. The three most influential ethnic groups in Nigeria are the Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba. The main religions in Nigeria are split between Muslims and Christians, although only a small percentage of people actively practice traditional religion. The name Nigeria comes from the Niger River running throughout the country.
