The Republic of India, a country in South Asia, is rather large. It is the 7th largest country in the world, at about 3,287,590 square kilometers. Much of the indigenous wildlife is in fear of becoming endangered, due to wide population growth throughout the country. While the total GDP, $1.996 trillion, ranks 10th in the world, their GDP per capita ranks lower at 143rd with $1,584. Its economy is lead by its telecommunication and automotive industries, which are growing rapidly still. During the first decade in the 21st century, they doubled their hourly wages.
India has a federal parliamentary constitutional republic. Their legislature, the Parliament of India, has an upper House and a lower house. They gained independence from the United Kingdom in January of 1950. India has the 2nd largest population in the world, at 1,210,193,500 people. They also have a high density at about 340 people per square kilometer. Hindi and English are the shared official languages. Hinduism is the most practiced religion in the region, at about 80% of the population.
