The Country of Trinidad and Tobago is composed of two large tropical islands, Trinidad and Tobago, and 21 smaller islands. It is located Northeast of Venezuela and South of Granada. Trinidad is by far the largest island and most populated at 1979 square miles. Tobago is much smaller than Trinidad and is about 6% of the total area of the country and 4% of the population. The country lies outside of the hurricane belt. The primary Cities in Trinidad are Port of Spain, San Fernando and Chaguanas. The primary city of Tobago is Scarborough.

The islands are a mixture of mountains and plains. There are two seasons, From January to June it is dry, and from July to December it is wet.

English is the spoken language. The economy is supported mainly by petroleum and petrochemical products. Trinidad is most famous for its pre-Lenten carnival. The country is also famous for being the birthplace of calypso, limbo, soca and steelpan.

Politically the country is a member of the Commonwealth of Nations, and the capital city, Port of Spain, is one of the leading candidates for the Headquarters of the Permanent Secretariat of the Free Trade of the Americas.
