Haiti has the biggest population that is a full member state in the Caribbean community but that is also the poorest country in the region. Reasons for this include its very violent political history and turmoil throughout the region.

Haiti is part of the western area of the Hispaniola which is the second biggest island in the Greater Antilles. Not only that, Haiti is the third largest country in the Caribbean region. Haiti's land is mostly mountains and has various areas that are coastal plains and a few river valleys.

Haiti is very unique due to its history, region, and its culture. It was the first successful slave revolution in 1804 and the first black led republic in the world. It was also the first independent nation in Latin America and the Caribbean region. One of the unique things about Haiti is that is one of the few countries that designates French as their official language.
