.itv Domain Information

Country flagLogo for .itv Domain

Commercial broadcasting, television production, and streaming sit behind .itv, a three-letter restricted extension from ICANN's 2012 New gTLD Program. Broadcasters face two overlapping problems a closed namespace addresses: unauthorised streaming of live programming distributed through domains imitating official addresses, and fabricated content attributed to a recognized newsroom.

Use covers program and catch-up content, news destinations, production and commercial resources, and regional sites. Registration is closed to the public and the extension carries no aftermarket. Three-character strings were the round's scarcest asset, and in broadcasting they carry practical value in on-screen graphics and advertising where an address must read clearly at a distance — a consideration specific to the medium.
