Telecommunications infrastructure — radio networks, core systems, and network software — sits behind .ericsson, a restricted extension from ICANN's 2012 New gTLD Program. Network equipment vendors brought a requirement closer to critical infrastructure than to marketing: software images, security advisories, and configuration documentation are pulled directly into carrier networks, where a spoofed distribution point compromises the systems it is meant to support.

Use covers product and technology content, technical documentation and advisories, operator and partner resources, and regional sites. Registration is not available to any third party and the extension has no aftermarket. Nordic industrial applicants were a small but consistent contingent in the round, clustering around telecoms and engineering.
