.thehartford Domain

Property, casualty, and employee benefits insurance framed the .thehartford application in ICANN's 2012 New gTLD Program. The string incorporates a definite article to disambiguate a city name, distinguishing the insurer from the Connecticut capital it takes its name from — a construction that solves in three letters what a bare place-name string could not.

Insurance was one of the largest sector groupings in the round, with agent networks and claims processes driving a consistent authentication rationale. The extension is not currently active in the DNS root zone and is not available for registration by any party.
