.telecity Domain

Data centre and colocation services framed the .telecity application in ICANN's 2012 New gTLD Program. Colocation providers house other organizations' infrastructure, which gives their namespace an access-control dimension: customer portals control physical access permissions and remote hands requests, so a spoofed portal reaches into a data hall rather than merely a billing record.

The string compounds a category prefix with an ordinary noun, a construction common among infrastructure applicants. Data centre operators were a small contingent in the round and were heavily affected by sector consolidation afterward. The extension is not currently active in the DNS root zone and is not available for registration by any party.
