Mobile and wireless services in the Philippines sit behind .smart, a short restricted extension from ICANN's 2012 New gTLD Program. The string is an ordinary English adjective that had, by the time of the round, become the standard prefix for an entire technology category — smartphones, smart homes, smart cities — giving it exceptional independent demand.

Use covers service and plan content, subscriber self-care, and campaign destinations. Registration is closed to the public and the extension carries no aftermarket. Southeast Asian participation in the round was modest, and telecom operators accounted for most of it — though holding a term this central to technology marketing is a substantial foreclosure.
