The .sas extension is a three-letter restricted namespace from ICANN's 2012 New gTLD Program. Short initialisms of this length were the scarcest asset in the program and carry an unusually heavy independent recognition load: this string corresponds to airlines, analytics software, military units, and a French corporate form, among other uses.

Use is confined to the operator's own corporate and service destinations. Registration is closed to the public and the extension carries no pricing or aftermarket. Collisions of this kind are characteristic of three-letter strings — the shorter the string, the more meanings it accumulates, and the more a single grant forecloses for everyone else sharing the abbreviation.
