Media, e-commerce, and technology investment operations framed the .naspers application in ICANN's 2012 New gTLD Program. It was the corporate-parent string in one of the round's largest coordinated families, filed alongside broadcasting, platform, and channel brands under common ownership.

Parent-company strings sit awkwardly in the brand framework: legally significant, recognized by investors and counterparties, but largely invisible to the consumers the group's operating brands serve. That gap makes them among the first candidates for retirement when a multi-string portfolio is reassessed against registry costs. The extension is not currently active in the DNS root zone and is not available for registration by any party.
