.mzansimagic Domain Information
South African local-language television programming framed the .mzansimagic application in ICANN's 2012 New gTLD Program. It belonged to the large family of related media strings filed by a single African broadcasting group, and is among the few applications in the entire round built on a colloquial local-language term rather than a corporate or English brand name.
Vernacular strings are a genuinely interesting category: they signal cultural specificity in a way no translated name achieves, but serve an audience too narrow to justify registry costs once a portfolio is reassessed. The extension is not currently active in the DNS root zone and is not available for registration by any party.
