.movistar Domain

Mobile and broadband services across Spain and Latin America framed the .movistar application in ICANN's 2012 New gTLD Program. Consumer telecom brands operating across many national markets under one name face the sector's exposure compounded by geography: subscriber self-care and top-up pages exist separately in each country, historically on unrelated domains giving customers no consistent pattern to recognize.

It was filed alongside .telefonica, giving the group namespaces for the consumer brand and the corporate parent separately — a split that recurs wherever the name customers know differs from the name on the accounts. The extension is not currently active in the DNS root zone and is not available for registration by any party.
