.meo Domain

Telecommunications, television, and broadband services in Portugal framed the .meo application in ICANN's 2012 New gTLD Program. Converged operators bundling internet, television, and mobile under one subscriber account concentrate several exposures into a single login: billing, content entitlements, and connectivity all reachable from one set of credentials.

Portuguese and Iberian applicants formed a small contingent in the round, clustering around telecoms and banking. The three-letter string was also an unusually strong asset for a service whose address is typed into set-top boxes and handsets rather than clicked. The extension is not currently active in the DNS root zone and is not available for registration by any party.
