.kpn Domain

Telecommunications, broadband, and network services in the Netherlands sit behind .kpn, a three-letter closed extension from ICANN's 2012 New gTLD Program. Former state telecom operators carry a distinctive position: decades of universal service leave them with customer relationships spanning nearly the whole population, including many subscribers who have never actively managed their online security.

Use covers service and plan content, subscriber self-care, business and wholesale solutions, and campaign destinations. Registration is closed to the public and the extension carries no aftermarket. Dutch applicants were a small contingent in the round, concentrated in telecoms, retail, and public-sector organizations — the last of these unusual enough to be worth noting on its own.
