.iselect Domain

Insurance, utilities, and financial product comparison framed the .iselect application in ICANN's 2012 New gTLD Program. Comparison services occupy a trust position distinct from the providers they list: consumers supply detailed personal and financial information to a site that then passes it to third parties, so the comparison operator's own credibility is the entire product.

That makes imitation unusually damaging, since a fraudulent comparison site harvests exactly the data set an identity thief wants, presented voluntarily. The lowercase-i prefix construction was a recognizable naming convention of the period, producing distinctive strings from ordinary words. The extension is not currently active in the DNS root zone and is not available for registration by any party.
