.infiniti Domain

Luxury vehicles sit behind .infiniti, a restricted extension from ICANN's 2012 New gTLD Program. Premium marques operated as distinct badges by mainstream manufacturers have a specific namespace problem: the parent company's identity would dilute the positioning, so the marque needs to stand alone in the address as it does in the showroom.

Use covers model and configurator content, dealer and aftersales destinations, and country sites. Registration is closed to the public and the extension carries no aftermarket. The string is a respelling of an ordinary English word, a naming convention that produced a distinctive mark while keeping the word's connotations — and, incidentally, avoided the contention a plain dictionary string would have attracted in the round.
