.globo Domain Information
Television broadcasting, news, and media production in Brazil sit behind .globo, a restricted extension from ICANN's 2012 New gTLD Program. Broadcasters in markets with dominant national networks face a particular disinformation exposure: audiences treat the network as an authoritative news source, and fabricated articles published on lookalike domains exploit exactly that trust.
Use covers news and programming content, streaming and catch-up services, sports and entertainment destinations, and portal properties. Registration is closed to the public and the extension carries no aftermarket. Brazil was the most active Latin American participant in the round, with media and banking applications forming the bulk of its contribution.
