.est Domain Information

Country flagLogo for .est Domain

The .est extension is a three-character string applied for in ICANN's 2012 New gTLD Program. Strings this short were the round's scarcest asset and were pursued largely independently of what they denoted — three characters cannot be sourced from any established namespace, they survive broadcast and print advertising intact, and they read cleanly in email addressing where longer extensions wrap awkwardly.

The string also carries several independent readings — an abbreviation for "established", a time-zone designator, a superlative suffix — which is characteristic of short strings and part of why they attract competing interest. The extension is not currently active in the DNS root zone and is not available for registration by any party.
