.crs Domain Information
The .crs extension is a three-letter restricted namespace delegated through ICANN's 2012 New gTLD Program. Short abbreviation strings were among the scarcest assets in the round, and their appeal was largely independent of what they stood for: three characters cannot be sourced from any established extension, they survive broadcast and print advertising intact, and they attract typed traffic simply by being short.
That last property is also why they were worth securing defensively — an unclaimed three-letter string is an obvious target. The extension is closed to public registration, carries no pricing or aftermarket, and is used for the operator's own corporate and service destinations rather than offered to third parties.
