Hypercar manufacturing framed the .bugatti application in ICANN's 2012 New gTLD Program. At the extreme end of the automotive market the brand TLD case shifts: volumes are tiny, so the argument is not consolidation of dealer networks but exclusivity and provenance — heritage, collector, and configurator content where the address itself forms part of a carefully controlled presentation.

Its registry agreement dates from July 2015 and carried both Specification 12, the community provision from the original base agreement, and Specification 13, the later .brand designation. The agreement was subsequently terminated. Marque-level automotive strings were heavily affected by group restructuring, leaving many without an owner prepared to carry registry obligations. Inactive strings cannot be registered or purchased by anyone.
