.alfaromeo Domain Information
The .alfaromeo domain extension was applied for during ICANN's 2012 New gTLD Program as a restricted namespace for a heritage automotive marque. Automotive applications were among the largest single sector groupings in that round, driven by a shared problem: model names, dealer networks, and national market sites generate hundreds of domains that are expensive to defend across open extensions and easy for third parties to imitate.
Its registry agreement dates from July 2015 and held Specification 13 status until termination, alongside .abarth under the same corporate ownership. Automotive group consolidation removed the business case for maintaining separate registries per marque. Inactive strings are not returned to the open market and cannot be registered, transferred, or bought.
