.abarth Domain

The .abarth domain extension was applied for during ICANN's 2012 New gTLD Program as a single-registrant namespace in the performance automotive segment. The intent matched other automotive brand applications of that round: consolidate a fragmented portfolio of country-code and legacy .com domains into one controlled extension, and make the right-hand side of the dot itself a mark of authenticity for enthusiasts researching models, parts, and dealers.

Its registry agreement dates from July 2015, and the extension carried Specification 13 — the .brand designation ICANN introduced in 2014, which qualifying operators applied for separately and which permits registration to be closed to the trademark holder alone. The agreement was terminated in June 2023, after nearly eight years in the root zone, coinciding with the automotive group consolidation that removed several marque-level namespaces together. Terminated strings are not released to the open market: .abarth cannot be registered, transferred, or acquired by any party.
