大众汽车 is the Chinese-script counterpart to .volkswagen, filed by the same automotive group in ICANN's 2012 New gTLD Program. The characters translate the German name directly — "masses" and "motor vehicle" — rather than approximating its sound, which makes this one of the cleaner semantic translations among the round's internationalised strings.

The extension is not currently active in the DNS root zone and is not available for registration by any party. Native-script strings shared the fate of their Latin counterparts in most cases: when a group retired its automotive namespaces, the internationalised versions went with them.
