.tunes Domain

The .tunes extension is one of the round's closed generics: an ordinary English plural noun delegated on a restricted basis through ICANN's 2012 New gTLD Program rather than opened for registration. The word has an obvious and substantial constituency in music — artists, labels, streaming services, and radio all describe their product with it.

There is no registration channel, pricing, or aftermarket for .tunes domains; use relates to the operator's own music and media services. Alongside .song, it is one of two music-category generics granted in the round, neither of which is available to the industry that would use them.
