Registrations for .GAL are restricted to bona-fide members of the Galician linguistic and cultural community. This community consists of those who use (or commit to use) the Galician language for their online communications, and⁄or promote the different aspects of Galician culture online, and⁄or intend to specifically address their online communications and services to that community.
In addition, registration the registrant’s use of the domain name must be:
(i) generally accepted as legitimate; and
(ii) beneficial to the cause and the values of the Galician linguistic and cultural community; and
(iii) commensurate with the role and importance of the registered domain name; and
(iv) in good faith at the time of registration and thereafter.Registrants will also be required to state their intended use of the domain name. Upon registration and during the life of the domain name registrant must be able to demonstrate they meet the criteria above if requested.

Some domain names may be permanently or temporarily reserved or restricted for registry operations, as premium domain names or to comply with ICANN requirements.
To comply with ICANN requirements, all two-character domains shall be initially reserved, however may be released in the future. In addition reserved names for a) International Olympic Committee, b) International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, and c) Intergovernmental Organizations, for new gTLDs., are not available in accordance with ICANN.
