About .dns

The .dns domain extension centers on the Domain Name System, the setup that lets people reach websites by name instead of by number. It naturally suits anyone who works with, studies, or simply identifies with DNS.

This top-level domain fits the technical community best. You can use it for sites about DNS servers and resolvers, or for other infrastructure tied to the system. System administrators, network groups, and projects can also use it, and it can serve people drawn to other meanings of the term.

Visitors will often read a .dns address as a sign of internet systems or network services. Because the acronym is known in technical, business, and cultural settings, the name can also suit organizations and communities that simply want to be associated with it.
