UN meeting in country with no Internet freedom
Azerbaijan was the meeting place last Tuesday for the United Nations Internet governance forum. This multi-stake holder meeting however, was held in the wrong place with Azerbaijan having a long history of attacking online journalists and bloggers. Many bloggers have been jailed and punished for their Internet postings, and say that Azerbaijan does not have Internet freedom in any extent. Critics say that the United Nations should choose a better location in the future, where fear of press being jailed does not exist. In my opinion they should have meetings in countries that upload their views and beliefs and not hold meetings in countries that are against the very thing they are fighting for.
