For the past 6 months SWITCH has been blocking Swiss websites that spread malicious software to internet users. Swiss hosting providers helped block websites in the second quarter of 2011, and SWITCH only had half the job to do.  The registry has been checking up on Swiss Internet addresses since November 2010. If a website is infecting internet users, SWITCH contacts the holder and the operator, and the website must be fixed within one day or it will be blocked for maximum of five days. At a meeting on June 30,2011 between the Swiss Federal Office of Communications and service providers they both agreed that the cooperation between SWITCH and Hosting providers is maintaining the highest level of security.
