.nz may happen for New Zealanders

The domain name .nz may soon be opened up for businesses and individuals to buy. Currently New Zealand is using and, however with ICANN’s strive to rename the internet New Zealands Domain Name Commission is trying to find alternatives to the everyday .com. The reviews of the plans from local kiwi businesses are having mixed feelings about going through the change. Some businesses feel that they must purchase the new domains only so that cybersquatters won’t be able to take their name. The businesses in favor of the new domains feel that they will have a better opportunity to trademark their businesses online. The submissions are due in September. To read further click here.
