Internet Censoring

The Internet, which has grown significantly over the last decade, has become a powerful economic engine and a huge social force. The internets success although positive for some countries has created a lot of backlash for others. The number of governments that censor the internet has grown significantly since 2002, initially starting at 4 now has grown to 40.  It is believed that censoring the internet can cause significant economic and social damages. The United Nations is opening a International Telecommunications Union, where they will be reviewing international agreements and governing of the Internet. They hope to be expanding their regulatory authority in December at the scheduled summit in Dubai. To read further on this topic click here.
