ICANN is Willing to Entertain Requests
The International Olympic Committee and the American Red Cross has diligently pursued ICANN to save special privileges for new top level domain names. A letter written to ICANN was published earlier this month revealing that they had in fact met with representatives this year. Also stating that they are willing to entertain the requests from the IOC if the IOC provided information on its existing international protection for its already existing top level domain names. The Governmental Advisory Committee intervened with a letter addressed to ICANN stating that the board should approve these requests from the IOC and Red Cross and should reflect so in the May 30, 2011 version of the applicant guidebook. It seems the requests from the Red Cross and the IOC are immanent. For furthering information visit Domain Name Wire.
