ICANN has turned off the digital archery system after many believe that the gTLD applicants would receive unexpected results. ICANN released a statement saying “the primary reason is that applicants have reported that the timestamp system returns unexpected results depending on circumstances. Independent analysis also confirmed the variances, some as a result of network latency, others as a result of how the timestamp system responds under differing circumstances.” They say that the randomness is geographic according to ARI registries. 20% of applicants have registered under the digital archery program according to ICANN.
