The Application Process
ICANN Non Commercial Stakeholder Group successfully halted the International Red Cross and International Olympic Committee from receiving special privileges for gTLD domain names. The organizations felt that ICANN process for applying wasn’t properly thought out. However, ICANN is responsible for providing applicants all explanations during the process of applying for the new gTLD names. The council for ICANN should not vote on any names and decisions without consulting the applicants of all information on the table. GNSO rules require that there be 21 days of public comments and 21 days of response and a revision process for all proposals. To read further on this topic click here.
