- What are Primary Name Servers and Secondary Name Servers?
- A Primary name server is for a domain reads the data for the domain from a file on its host. A Secondary name server is gets data for a domain from another name server that is authoritative for the domain. A secondary name server might refer directly to the primary name server or it might refer to another secondary name server. Primary name server is also known as master name server and secondary name server is also know as slave name server.
- What kind of contacts will I need to have to register a .SV domain name?
- You will need three contacts: an Administrative Contact, Technical Contact, and a Financial/Billing Contact.
- What defines the three contacts?
- 1) Administrative Contact or Contact person (Persona contacto):
The person who is the contact and administrative representative before 101Domain for the entity that is applying for the sub-domain name registration. He (she) must be an active member or appointed delegate from the Applying Entity and different from the Technical contact, and reside permanentely in El Salvador. His (her) duties before 101Domain are of administrative, decisional and representative nature.
2) Technical contact (Contacto tcnico):
The person who is the technical contact before 101Domain for the entity that is applying for the sub-domain name registration. He (she) must be an active member or appointed delegate from the Applying Entity and different from the Contact person. His (her) duties before 101Domain are strictly of technical nature.
3) Financial contact (Contacto financiero):
The person who is the financial contact before 101Domain for the entity that is applying for the sub-domain name registration. He (she) must be an active member or appointed delegate from the Applying Entity (may be the same as one of the preceding contacts). His (her) duties before 101Domain are strictly of financial nature, that is, he (she) is the reference for payment or renewal of the registration. - Are certain domain names/sub-domains reserved?
- Yes.

* .red.sv = National network administration - Can I register more than one .SV domain name?
- Yes. The registration of several names by the same applying entity is possible, as long as it does not reflect any incentive for monopolistic practices, potential speculations for future negotiations with the assigned names, or unfair business practices.
