.LU Domain General FAQ Luxembourg FAQ - Who can register a .LU domain?
- According to the .LU domain name policy, an organization as well as natural persons may register domain names. You must specify on the registration form whether the entity seeking registration is an organization or a natural person.
Any entity may become the holder of a domain name .LU., independent of its place of establishment. - What is the difference between Active and Inactive Domain names?
- Inactive domain name (Reserve the domain):
In case you haven't yet planned an Internet presence but still want to 'secure' your Internet identity, please be sure to inforam 101Domain. Inactive domain names remained registered until you are ready for your Internet presence and have the domain name activated by a hosting provider. The fees are the same as for an active domain name.
Active domain name (Network connection):
Active domain names require two computers with Internet access, i.e. nameservers, which can be made available to you by your service provider. After your domain name has been activated your service provider can set up a webserver and you can access your website on the Internet via your domain name. Please inform 101Domain of this in order to register an active domain name. Pay special attention to provide the correct nameserver data as well. - What is a domain name ?
- Computers with Internet access communicate with one another via the Internet Protocol (IP) and always have an IP address (IP number), e.g. 158.64.1.25, assigned by the ISP (Internet Service Provider). The Domain Name System (DNS) was developed because remembering these IP addresses (numbers) is difficult. The DNS enables users to enter words or names instead of numbers. In other words, a domain name is an Internet address.
- How many domains can I register ?
- There is no limitation on the number of domain names an entity may register.
