.LB Domain Requirements & Criteria Lebanon FAQ - Must I have a dedicated server set up when I register for a .LB domain?
- Yes. At least two functioning domain names servers (DNS) should be presented for the registered name at request time. Non-accordance to this requirement can result in the failure of the completion of the registration.
- What are Primary Name Servers and Secondary Name Servers?
- A Primary name server is for a domain reads the data for the domain from a file on its host. A Secondary name server is gets data for a domain from another name server that is authoritative for the domain. A secondary name server might refer directly to the primary name server or it might refer to another secondary name server. Primary name server is also known as master name server and secondary name server is also know as slave name server.
- What is a master name server and and slave name server?

- What kind of contacts will I need to have to successfully register a .ID domain name?
- You will need three contacts: an Administrative Contact, Technical Contact, and Billing Contact.
- Can I register under .LB directly or does it have to be under com.lb, gov.lb. org.lb, edu.lb or net.lb?
- No you should register under one of the second level .LB domains; com.lb, edu.lb, gov.lb, org.lb or net.lb. Domain names are unique at the "xxx.lb" level.
- Can we register more than one .LB domain to the same Lebanese registered company?
- Yes, you can register more than one LB domain to the same company if that company owns a Lebanese Trademark Certificate for each of the domain names.The domain name will reflect the exact Trademark Certificate name. i.e. for and "XYZ.com.lb" you should trademark "XYZ."
- Can we register more than one .LB domain per Trademark Certificate?
- No, you can register one .LB domain per Lebanese Trademark Certificate and the domain name will reflect the exact Trademark Certificate name (i.e. for and "XYZ.com.lb" you should trademark "XYZ."
- Is it a requirement to have a local company in Lebanon to register under com.lb?
- Yes, to apply for a .com.lb domain the requester should provide his Lebanese Commercial Registration documents. i.e. the company requesting the domain should have an officially recognized operation in Lebanon.
- If I have a Lebanese Trademark is it a requirement to have a local company in Lebanon to register under com.lb?
- Yes, the Lebanese Domain Registry is a close country registry and to apply for a .com.lb domain the requester should provide his Lebanese Commercial Registration documents (i.e. the company requesting the domain should have an officially recognized status in Lebanon).
- I am a Trademark Agent. Can I possibly register a domain name and hold it on behalf of another firm, until the latter establishes its legal entity or local subsidiary in Lebanon?
- No, to apply for a COM.LB domain the requester should provide his Lebanese Commercial Registration documents (i.e. the company requesting the use of the domain name should have an officially recognized operation in Lebanon).
