- A Domain Name is your address on the Internet. It is your unique identity on the Internet that corresponds to your numeric address "IP". Or in simple terms, a domain name is the part of your Internet address that comes after "www".
* For example, in http://www.abc.com.fm the domain name is abc.com.fm
- "abc" is the name of the company ABC (fictious name)
- "com" is to represent that ABC is a Commercial Company and
- "fm" the top level domain that represents the Federated States of Micronesia
* Domain names provide a system of easy-to-remember Internet addresses, which can be translated by the Domain Name System (DNS) into the numeric addresses (Internet Protocol (IP) numbers) used by the network.
