.BR Domain Requirements & Criteria Brazil FAQ - Is it necessary to have servers ready and working when I request the registration of a domain?
- According to the current rules, to accomplish a domain register, there are at least two DNS servers connected to the Internet necessary and already configured to the domain that is being requested.
- Who can register a domain?
- To register a domain, it is necessary to be a legally established or represented entity in Brazil (Institutions that possess CNPJ) or a natural person (CPF) that possesses a contact in domestic territory.
- Can I register as many domains as I want?
- An entity will be able to register, under a DPN, as many domains as it wishes. However, it is not allowed to register the same name in more than 2 generic DPNs. The restriction to the equal names is not applied to the DPNs with restrictions or DPNs for natural persons. All the DPNs available, excepting the restricted ones, are classified as generic.
Examples:
* A natural person will be able to register as many domains as it wants under com.br and ind.br, but if it has the domains xxx.com.br and xxx.ind.br, he wont be able to also register in art.br. That is, XXX.COM.BR and XXX.IND.BR will not be able to register XXX.ART.BR, for being generic domains. Also nothing hinders that, in case that this entity fills the requirements to register under TV.BR, the XXX.TV.BR register too, because TV.BR is a proper restriction domain, which doesnt add to the same name restriction.
* A natural person will be able to register as many domains as it wants under DPNs for free professionals and natural people, that is, will be able to register XXX.ADV.BR, XXX.ENG.BR, ZZZ.ETI.BR and XXX.ZZZ.NOM.BR, but will not be able to register XXX.ADV.BR, XXX.ENG.BR and XXX.ETI.BR.
* A natural person is able to register XXX.BLOG.BR, XXX.FLOG.BR, XXX.VLOG.BR, XXX.WIKI.BR and XXX.ZZZ.NOM.BR.
- Which documentation is necessary to register a domain?
- Natural People:
.AM.BR - The CNPJ and the voucher of ANATEL to sonorous broadcasting AM, are required;
.COOP.BR - The CNPJ and voucher of register under the Brazilian Cooperatives Organization, are required;
.EDU.BR The CNPJ and an evidence of the specific activity through document of the MEC and some document that proves that the name to be registered is not generic, are required;
.FM.BR The CNPJ and the voucher of ANATEL to sonorous broadcasting FM, are required;
.G12.BR - The CNPJ is required;
.GOV.BR - The CNPJ and evidence that the entity belongs to the federal government, are required.
.MIL.BR - Authorization of the Ministry of the Defense is demanded;
.NET.BR The CNPJ and specific document for evidence of this activity, are required.
.ORG.BR Required is documentation that proves the nature of the not governmental institution without lucrative ends and the CNPJ. In the cases where the institution is a consulate or an embassy, the requirement of the CNPJ for this DPN is excused;
.PSI.BR - The CNPJ and evidence that the entity is supplier of access to the Internet, are required;
.TV.BR Demands the CNPJ and voucher of the ANATEL for Broadcasting of Sounds and Images or Operation of cable TV ;
** For other DPNs, only the presentation of the number of CNPJ or CPF/MF is required to register a domain. The documentation can be requested later for the register if it is necessary.
