  • Who can register a domain name?
  • Any legally established entity or natural person in Brazil that has a contact in the domestic territory can register a domain name.
  • Can companies or other organizations register domains?
  • Foreign companies who legally possess an established solicitor in Brazil, according to the described rules in: Procedures for register of foreigners."
    * For a foreign company to be able to register a domain .BR, it will have to possess a legally established solicitor in the country and a registration in the system of the .br Register. After being registered in our system, the company will receive an identification that will have to be informed to the domain registration form in substitution to the CNPJ.
  • What is the proper procedure for registering a domain name?
  • The procedure for registering a domain name by foreign entity consists of the sending of:
    * Power of attorney by the recognized firm in the native country of the company, delegating power to the solicitor for registration of the domain, cancellation of the domain, transference of property of the domain and transference of the contact of the entity.
    * Declaration of the commercial activity of the company, with a recognized signature in the native country of the company, where it will have to consist of: corporate name, complete address, telephone, corporate object, developed activities, name and position of the legal representative;
    * Declaration of commitment of the company, with recognized signature in the native country of the company, assuming that it will definitively establish its activities in Brazil, in the stated period of 12 months, counted from the date of receiving this.
    * Consular legalization of the power of attorney, the declaration of commercial activity and the declaration of commitment, to be realized in the Consulate of Brazil in the native country of the company;
    * sworn translation of the power of attorney, the declaration of commercial activity and the declaration of commitment;
    * Copy of the CNPJ or the CPF of the solicitor
    * Report of the solicitor establishing which is the identification of the contact of the foreign entity.
    In case that the solicitor does not have an entity registered in our system, this register will also have to be effected, through the sending of the complete data of the solicitor: CNPJ/CPF, corporate name/name, complete address, telephone and ID of the contact of the entity.
    * The corporate name of the foreign entity can only be administratively modified by the Register .br.
