.AR Domain General FAQ Argentina FAQ - Must I have a web page and hosting service to register/delegate a Domain?
- No. In order to register/delegate a domain you only need a domain name provider service. This is vital if the name is to be resolved by Internet and you will not need a web page; in fact, you might wish to use the domain only for the electronic mail service, or others.
- Can a foreigner register a domain under .ar?

- The registering entity. The transactions that may be effected via Internet and the e-mail address registered in Argentina are:
* To change one Authorized Person for another
* To cancel the domain
* To renew the domain
* To modify the details associated with the entity
* To cancel the entity if it is not associated with any domain, DNS and/or person. - How many domains can be registered by the same entity?
- No limit has as yet been set.
- What are the functions or Internet transactions that the Authorized Person can carry out?
- The Authorized Person appoints the registering entity as contact person to resolve administrative questions concerning the domain.

* To modify or cancel the delegation of the Domain for which it is the Technical Contact
* To modify the data associated with the person (address, tel. no., etc)
* To cancel the entry relating to the person if not associated with any domain or DNS - 12. Who is the owner (of the domain name server) and who is the operator? What are the operator's functions?
- The Entity owning the domain name server is the natural or artificial person authorized by that server and the operator is the person who directly configures it. By Internet both the owner and operator may:
* Modify the name and/or IP number of the DNS
* Change one operator for another
* Modify the DNS owner entity
* Cancel the DNS if it is unable to resolve any domain. - How do I register in my name a domain that I intend to use for a non-profit project?
- You can register it in your name provided the entity, whether it be Argentine or foreign, is not for profit, otherwise the transaction will be rejected. The registering entity should be legally registered as a non-profit entity. The applicant must enter on the registration form the Tax Identification Number assigned to that entity by the National Tax Office.
If the entity has no Tax Identification Number, the applicant must provide the Tax Identification Number of the president or legal representative of the entity, and also fax a photocopy of the document containing the filing number and mentioning the relevant domain.
If NIC Argentina is in any doubt about the non-profit nature of the entity, it may request additional documentation. It is therefore advisable to follow the steps described above and to provide the full name of the entity without using acronyms, for example "Foundation XXXX", "Civil Association YYYY", Mutual Society ZZZZ", Institute WWWW, Civil Association", etc. - How can I register a domain under .org.ar if the entity is a non-profit organization but with no legal status?
- Section 46 of the Civil Code establishes that:
"Associations with no legal status as artificial persons shall be regarded as simple civil or religious associations, according to the purpose of their charter. They may acquire rights and obligations provided their creation and designation of authorities are certified by a recorded deed or by private instruments whose authenticity is certified by a notary public."
After completion of the registration form, they must provide a certified photocopy of the documentation, to be faxed or mailed to 101Domain. The documentation remains subject to evaluation and if the domain is available it will be granted to the entity in question. - I have registered mydomain.com. Does that give me the right to register mydomain.com.ar although there might be other applications pending registration prior to mine?
- Domain registration in NIC Argentina is independent of any registration with other registrars. A domain is registered in the name of the person who first requested it and who satisfies all the requirements.
- How can I make my registered Domain work?
- If it is merely registered, you should delegate the Domain administration to Domain Name Servers (DNS) operated by an Administrative Entity, often an ISP provider, by completing the required form.
Moreover, your service provider should make the necessary configurations so that once delegation is confirmed, you will be able to access your web page and/or start to use your electronic mail.
- Can a domain belonging to a registrant be revoked since it is already registered in my name under .com and/or the trademark and/or my artificial person coincides with the domain name and/or the domain is not in use and/or was incorrectly registered by the applicant?
- No, the domain of a registering entity cannot be revoked for any of these reasons.
- Could you send me the list of all the registered domains?
- 101Domain does not provide this information.
- I need to contact an authorized person of a certain domain. Can you give me their contact information?
- 101Domain does not provide this information to third parties. You may try to search using the whois database.
- Do domains expire?
