Lebanon is a country in the Eastern Mediterranean, and is considered the crossroads of the Mediterranean Basin because of its location. It is known for having a rich cultural history of religious and ethnic diversity. It has an estimated population of approximately 4.2 million people and the official languages are Arabic, French and Armenian.
The economy is noted for its commercial enterprise, and remittances from Lebanese abroad for 20$ of the country's economy. There is a small industrial sector in the country, but its beautiful landscape supports a strong and growing tourism industry. There has also been recent promise for future exploitation of natural resources since oil has been recently discovered in the region.
