How do I get my domain name back if I forgot to renew it?
Depending on how long it has been since your renewal was due, you may be able to take advantage of the domain redemption service, which enables the original registrant (domain name holder) of a given domain to redeem it after it has expired. The registrant must act IMMEDIATELY if he or she wants to keep the name; there is a (30) day Redemption Grace Period (RGP) that begins after a registrar requests that the registry delete a domain name. The reason for the introduction of the RGP process was to provide additional time for the Registrant to recover the domain before the name is made available to the public for re-registration. This applies to generic TLDs only. Please ask about recovery of ccTLDs, as each country is different.
